FAQ

Hackathon Participation

The hackathon is open to all developers, regardless of your years of experience in the Web3 space. Whether you’re just starting your journey in Web3 or are a seasoned expert, we welcome you to join us! Our goal is to bring together a diverse group of talented individuals to explore, create, and push the boundaries of what’s possible with Hedera.

The hackathon will be held from 22 July to 20 August.

Anything you’d like! Our “Hello Future Hackathon” features 3 thematic tracks: AI, RWA (Real World Assets), and DeFi. Additionally, we have 2 open tracks tailored to different skill levels: Advanced and Beginner. With these options, you’ll surely find a suitable project to work on during the hackathon.

Registration opens on 28 June 2024 and closes on 18 Aug 2024, 11:59 PM (EDT).

The hackathon is a completely virtual event, so anyone from around the world is welcome to attend!

Absolutely! And you don’t have to worry about the competition – our beginner-friendly track “Hashgraph Explorers”, is designed just for you. It’s perfect for those getting started in Web3, allowing you to experiment and build a basic application that showcases your understanding of Hedera’s core functionalities. Furthermore, throughout the hackathon, you’ll have access to resources and mentorship to help you grow your knowledge of Hedera. So, we say, participate and enjoy the journey!

Yes, and they will be conducted as engaging group sessions! Submit your most thought-provoking questions for our Mentor Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) sessions and join us live. Not only will you gain valuable insights, but you might also win some exciting prizes!

Teams

A maximum of 5 members will be allowed per team. Apart from that, we have no other requirements! We also highly encourage team members to come from various backgrounds so that different perspectives can be incorporated into your project.

You may also choose to hack solo.

Solo participants are more than welcome to register for the hackathon!

Not at all! You are most welcome to make use of our #find-a-team channel in Discord where you can chat to and connect with everyone looking to add / join a team. You are of course welcome to hack solo too!

Yes! We want anyone with ideas or the passion to innovate to participate. Teams will however need at least one individual who can build/code a prototype as a code artefact is required for project submission.

Yes! Only registered individuals are eligible to participate and collect the prizes. Please ensure that all members of your team have registered their teams accordingly as well.

Project Submission

More details about Submission Requirements can be found in your Participant’s Guide (available upon registration).

Teams can opt to submit their project for more than 1 of the available tracks, as long as their project is relevant to those tracks. Do remember to select the track(s) (i.e. AI, RWA, DeFi, Hackathon Explorers, Hackathon Trailblazers) the project should be considered for when completing the submission form.

Yes, provided that there are significant improvements and progress to the project during the official hacking period from 22 July to 20 August 2024.

Please refer to the Hackathon Rules and the Fresh Code Rule found in your Participant’s Guide (available upon registration).

In this case, we’d recommend the team to be split, and submit the projects under different team names and with different team members in each team. However, do note that there cannot be repeated members across teams and that the prize won will only be awarded to the specific team with its registered members.

Participants will wholly own the intellectual property rights to the projects they develop during the hackathon. There are no obligations for participants to share, license, or commercialise their projects. Your creations are yours to explore and develop as you see fit.
